Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? We have an answer! Check out our FAQs below to learn more about our company and services.
-
Is manure based humus safe for any plants?
Using manure based humus is highly beneficial
provided the humus is effectively processed using proper methods and aging. A high-quality humus like Thryve Soil Solutions brand is jam-packed with nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium as well as aerobic microbes.
-
Does your humus burn plants?
Directly applying “fresh” or manure that is not properly aged and processed for its beneficial nutrients will burn most plants.
Do your homework on the materials you intend to use. Only trust an aged humus. You often see bagged soil conditioners with visible pieces of wood. This raw material was not allowed to age long enough to process properly and is likely too high in nitrogen.
-
How do I apply or use your humus?
For a vegetable or flower garden, proper application is very important.
Add the Thryve Humus to the surface allowing the nutrients to release into the soil and plant roots over time.
Well-aged and processed humus makes a great soil conditioner for garden plants and eliminates the need for synthetic, high-priced fertilizers.
-
Which is better, Cow or Horse manure?
Horse manure is richer in nitrogen than cow manure. Horses digest their food less thoroughly than cows so their manure is much richer in organic matter. Initially, this will result in more weed seeds so, again, properly aged humus is necessary.
Additionally, Thryve horse manure raw materials are presented with wood shavings from the horse stall.
This carbon source, properly aged and processed is beneficial to the amendment qualities of the humus.
If you see large amounts of wood chips in your humus, the humus itself will likely leach nitrogen from the ground as the wood attempts to decompose in your garden.
Do your homework and only select a truly aged and properly processed soil conditioner like Thryve Premium Humus.
